About the Item
A beautiful and high quality pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu and white Carrara marble four arm candelabras. Each candelabra is raised by fine ormolu topie shaped feet below a circular white Carrara marble base decorated with a finely chased wrap around berried laurel ormolu band. At the center are three striking scrolled supports with hoof feet, large acanthus leaves and richly chased winged cherubs faces in a rich satin and burnished finish. The urn shaped bodies are encased by elegant swaging floral garlands and lead up to wonderfully executed and most decorative branches, leaves and charming flowers in bloom seemingly growing out of the top. The four arms display finely detailed floral candle cups and exceptional attention to detail. All original gilt throughout.
