Late Georgian English Gilt Bronze Travelling Candlestick & Match holder

About the Item

A rare and unusual antique Late Georgian or Regency gilt bronze travelling candle stick with match holder/striker and with a snuffer dating from around 1830. The candlestick is mounted on a gilt bronze rectangular shaped box with a sliding cover and mounted in finely patterned leather to four sides and with match striking paper to two sides and possibly the forerunner to the modern carded match box. The candlestick unscrews and a candle snuffer sits in a small lip to one end of the cover. Possibly also a smokers accessory the candlestick is not marked however does have the word PATENT gilded to the leather at one end. An unusual and rare item. In good condition with signs of use and wear.
