About the Item

A fine pair of figural Arts & Crafts candlesticks. In sterling silver. Made by Towle Silversmiths. Retailed by Marcus & Co. of New York. In the form of two stylized tulip flowers with bobeche inserts and suppressed ball tops with 6 petals supported by a thin tubular pedastal flanked by two curved, varigated leaves and a disk shaped foot. In the style of Robert Jarvie or Charles Robert Ashbee. Simply exceptional Arts & Crafts design! Date: Early 20th Century Overall Condition: It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition. Condition Details: There are some light dings and indentations & light scratches to both of the tulip bulbs. The rims are somewhat out of round. Otherwise, there is some light edge wear, some fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. Maker: Towle Marks: Marked to the base with Towle's maker's mark / Sterling / an inscribed 56914 / Marcus & Co's mark / 3705 / E. Fineness: Marked Sterling for silver fineness.
