About the Item
"Mykes is a collection of refined handblown glass candle stands produced in three different sizes with the shape of a mushroom. Inspired by ancient Greek culture, the mushroom was considered a symbol of life endowed with divine properties. The collection relates to the courageous hero, Perseus, when he quenched his thirst with water collected in the cap of a mushroom once he became weary after a long journey. Grateful for the solace offered by nature, he decided to establish in that very site a new city called Mycene (from the Greek Mykes, which means mushroom).
After studying mechanical engineering in Modena, Giorgio Bonaguro completed his training with a double masters in Industrial and interior design from the Polytechnic Design School in Milan. He has worked with various studios, such as Amdl (Michele De Lucchi) or MarCo Romanelli, where he learned the process of developing a product. He continues his personal research and collaboration with other studios and companies in various fields, including furniture, Industrial, interiors, packaging and light design. His clients include Driade, Valsecchi1918, La Lampe, Mint Gallery London, and Galleria Luisa Delle Piane.".

Giorgio Bonaguro
Giorgio Bonaguro is an Italian artist and designer, who studied mechanical engineering in Modena and then graduated at Scuola Politecnica di Design SPD, in Milan, with the double Master’s degree of industrial and interior design. He has worked in several design studios in Milan, first at Lorenzo Palmeri's, then with Francesco Faccin, at Michele De Lucchi's Studio. And then, with the designer and critic, Marco Romanelli. Giorgio has collaborated with several companies and developed limited editions, presented at some international fairs, such as “Salone del Mobile," “Design Miami,” “London Design Festival," “Wanted Design NY," “Maison et Objet” and “Design Days Dubai." He works between Italy and Brazil, in the field of product design, interior design, exhibition and lighting, trying to combine a linear style with research and contamination between materials.
