About the Item

A stunning Restauration lyre clock crafted of burr elm veneer with hand-chiseled gilt and patinated bronze decoration. Rich foliage and floral motifs surround the ormolu dial, which is lined with petals. The dial ring is embellished with roses and daisies, featuring 12 white enamel cartridges that mark the hours with Arabic numerals. The lyre is topped by the bust of a woman with musical trophies. It rests on two griffins in patinated bronze, above a rectangular base decorated with a bas-relief depicting a winged Cupid watching two birds. The clock is poised on a wood veneer base, with marquetry floral pattern, beneath its original glass dome. Dimensions: clock: H:62cm, L:26cm, P:12cm.
