About the Item

Louis XVI ormolu-mounted black and white marble mantel clock, Paris, 1800. The white enamel dial with black Arabic numerals is contained within a drum-shaped case. The case flanked by gilt bronze mounted pilaster set on top of a black marble pedestal base decorated with acanthus leaves, the whole supported on a white marble plinth on toupie feet. The enamel dial is signed "Les Freres Coteau a Paris". Original sunburst pendulum hanging on string. It rings the hours and half hours on a bell.
