Very Rare 19th Century Coromandel Veneered Year-Running Clock by Thomas Cole
Located in London, GB
A Superb Coromandel-Veneered Mantle Clock
The case constructed of very well-figured Coromandel giving the maximum amount of decorative effect, with gilt bronze accents; the plinth base of rectangular form, with everted stepped corners, and precisely chased gilt bronze figures, two representing Mercury-the god of travel and merchants with his winged helmet and coin purse in hand; the others representing Fortuna-the goddess of luck; the sides glazed, with mooresque arcaded pierced mounts enclosing a vase, in gilt bronze with overlapping palm trees above: the top of domed form with an octagonal platform, surmounted by an architectural dome, its engraved detail and structure reminiscent of Byzantine prototypes. The silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals for the hours, and within an arabesque dial divided into quadrants, with the key aperture at 6 o'clock. Below, the manual calendar, and a semi-circular thermometer. The dial signed by the retailer "Hunt & Roskell / London." The mechanism replaced with a one-year duration movement by Achille Brocot.
English, circa 1860
A closely related clock, by Thomas Cole, though not bearing his signature, with a case of identical form and differing bronze decoration, previously with Butchoff. A third known coromandel-veneered example, also unsigned, is discussed by John...

Beautiful design and also practical in size Art Deco table clock.
Over the years we have sold a number of striking (no pun intended) Art Deco clocks, but never one as cool and almost futuristic looking and perfectly symmetrical as this one. The perfect warm patina makes this clock extra special and because of its unique design and color it will look great in every Art Deco interior. 19th Century English Late Victorian Mahogany Grandfather Clock Inlay Fruitwood
Located in Roma, RM
Magnificent example of a grandfather clock, England , last decade of the 19th century, late Victorian period, with influences from the coming Edwardian style. We are dealing with a true work of art, a block of flamed mahogany, completely inlaid with floral motifs in fruit woods. Impressive case but of a proportion that makes the cabinet slender and well-proportioned. In addition to the skillful craftsmanship of the cabinetmaker who made this wooden body that looks like a painting, we must dwell on the mechanism! Functioning, 8 reeds and three weights, it plays every quarter of an hour a part of the melody, at the stroke of the hour and after a minute ( it served as a reminder of the hour) the whole melody.
It has two selectable melodies; Whittington Chime...

Rare 18th-Century Grande Sonnerie Striking table Clock by William Poulton
Located in Oxfordshire, United Kingdom
A Rare 18th-Century Georg II Grande Sonnerie Striking Spring Table Clock by William Poulton, London, C.1750
Watchmaker to the King of Spain.
A small and extremely attractive English eighteenth-century grande sonnerie striking spring clock with an ebonised fruitwood veneered oak case, made circa 1750. The inverted bell top case is glazed on all sides so that the movement is almost entirely visible. The case is surmounted by a brass handle and rests on shaped brass feet.
The dial, which is shaped at the top, has a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, surrounded by silver rococo spandrels. In addition, there are two subsidiary silvered rings in the shaped top, the right one for rise-and-fall regulation, the opposite for switching off the striking mechanism (strike/silent). The date is indicated in a date aperture situated above the XII.
The maker has signed the dial at the top between the subsidiary rings in the following way:
William Poulton
Watchmaker to the King
of Spain London
The time is indicated by a pair of finely made blued steel hands on the silvered chapter ring.
The eight-day triple fusee...

17th Century Charles II Month Going Marquetry Longcase Clock by John Wise
Located in Oxfordshire, United Kingdom
A superb Charles II month duration floral marquetry longcase clock by the well-known maker John Wise, c. 1680-85. Measure: 10".
The case is of the highest quality and decorated throughout in very attractive floral marquetry depicting spring flowers and birds showing a high level of sophistication with a glazed circular lenticle to the door. Similarly, the rising hood is decorated with blind frets around the top and surmounted by a shallow caddy decorated by five gilt wooden ball finials. It is flanked by prominent gilt brass-capped solid barley twist columns, with blind fretted panels to the sides.
The month-going nicely finned and knopped five pillar movement has reversed going and striking trains, the striking train (on the right) being regulated by a small outside countwheel. The going train has anchor escapement and a seconds pendulum. The movement is fronted by a 10-inch brass dial with an unusual narrow silvered chapter ring, seconds ring and date aperture. It has elaborate cherub-head spandrels in the corners and is signed along the bottom John Wise Londini Fecit. The middle is finely matted, whilst the time is indicated by a fine pair of blued-steel hands, the hour hand richly pierced.
The maker
John Wise was born in Banbury shortly before 17 March 1624, the date of his baptism. He was the son of John and Ann Wise and a cousin of Joseph Knibb...

Beautiful and Stylish Victorian Era Handmade Nutwood Regulator Wall Clock 1880
Located in Lisse, NL
Perfect running and striking, late 1800s, partially ebonized antique wall clock.
If you are looking for a stylish and stately wall clock then this tall antique specimen could be gracing the wall of your home or office space soon. All handcrafted in the late 1800s this work of time telling art is not only very beautiful, it is also guaranteed to be of a quality that you don't find anymore in this day and age. Both the clock case and movement (including the enameled dial face and pendulum) are of exceptional quality and beauty. The striking white and exceptionally clean, enameled dial face comes with perfectly contrasting black numerals which makes telling time from a distance easy as well. The original hands of this clock are of the kind of elegance that you would expect from a Victorian era clock. The beautiful antique movement is serviced and in perfect working order. The brass and equally gorgeous, enameled pendulum is another gracious feature that moves perfectly back and forth behind the original glass panel in the door. The eight day mechanism comes with the original key for winding it and she strikes the whole hours and once on the half hours. Have you also noticed the ebonized goddess sculpture on top, she is like the icing on the cake of this stately clock that will never fail to impress.
If you like this great looking and perfect working antique clock...
