French Empire ormolu mantel clock showing an allegory of spring, early 19th century fine work, Restauration period circa 1815 - 1820 (Restauration period). Beautiful chiseled model decorated with a mythological scene in the middle : Flora (goddess of flowers and and spring) is holding flowers surrounded by butterflies ; rosebuds on the edge, pansies around the dial and Zephyr's head (westerly wind god and harbinger of spring season in greek mythology) on the feet. Very well executed, fine work with finely chiseled characters, detailed patterns, stunning mercury gilt bronze with a matte and shiny effect. Beautiful neoclassical style item to complete an Empire or Restauration interior decoration. Width : 18.4cm (7" 1/4) Height : 35.5cm (14") Depth : 9,6cm (3" 3/4)
