Lucien Bénière Large Abstract Birchwood "Gerbe" Sculpture

About the Item

French artist Lucien Bénière, born in 1922, studied wood sculpting and molding at the École Nationale Professionnelle de Saint-Étienne. From 1964, Lucien Bénière explored different areas of the plastic arts; first inks (1964 – 1968), and then oils (1969 – 1978). From 1979 onwards he devoted all his time to wood carving. Within modern abstraction, Bénière is a romantic, he seeks to reach an internal knowledge through art, a state where man is one with nature; wood is a hieroglyph of nature and time to Bénière. This grand birch wood sculpture stands 7'-7" tall with dimensional leading lines that curve in an array of directions. This sculpture makes a sleek and timeless statement, it is eye-catching from afar and pulls you in with surprising details from every point of view. This sculpture is documented in Tresors Inattendus Lucien Beniere sculptures as seen on page 252.
