Large bronze sculpture of a sitting figure in expressionist / cubist style, This sculpture with its greenish patina and rough textures emphasizes the strong abstract shapes of human figure and chair/thrown. The sculpture dates from the post war period, circa 1960.In style is linked to avant-garde artists like Diego or Alberto Giacometti. Regarding Alberto Giacometti's sculptural technique and according to the Metropolitan Museum of Art: "The rough, eroded, heavily worked surfaces of Three Men Walking (II), 1949, typify his technique. Reduced, as they are, to their very core, these figures evoke lone trees in winter that have lost their foliage. " Diego Giacometti (15 November 1902 – 15 July 1985) was a Swiss sculptor and designer, and the younger brother of the sculptor Alberto Giacometti.
