A brief biography from Wikipedia: Kitty Rix-Tichacek (* 10. February 1901 in Vienna; † 1951 in the USA) was an Austrian ceramist. She designed figurative and scenic ceramics as well as vessels, lamp bases, candlesticks and bookends for the Wiener Werkstätte. Life and work Katharina Laura Rix was the daughter of Valerie Rix, born Löwy (* 1875) and the entrepreneur and short-term managing director of the Wiener Werkstätte Julius Rix (1858-1927). She was the youngest sister of the painter, graphic artist and textile artist Felice Rix. At the Wienerberger Werkstättenschule für Keramik, founded in 1920, which was headed by Robert Obsieger, Kitty Rix completed a three-year apprenticeship. From May 1924 to May 1928 she was a member of the design department of the Wiener Werkstätte. A first of their designs is listed in the model books in 1924. Kitty Rix probably replaced her sister Felice from that time, who worked for the workshop from 1917 to 1923 and then settled with her husband in Japan. Her monogram at the Wiener Werkstätte consisted of the letters KR with a frame of squares and lines.[1]In 1925, Kitty Rix participated in the World Exhibition in Paris in the field of "German Women's Art". In 1926, she worked at the Kunstgewerbeschule Wien with Eduard Josef Wimmer-Wisgrill in the Modewerkstätte. In 1928, Rix married the architect Paul Tichacek (b. In the Berlin branch of the Wiener Werkstätte, objects of the ceramist were also sold in 1930.[2]In 1931 she designed her last ceramics for the Wiener Werkstätte. The native Jew, who had detached herself from her religious affiliation in 1923, emigrated to San Francisco at a previously unknown time. Rix was a member of the Austrian Werkbund.[3]
