Max Le Verrier - "Boubou à la Lanterne" Art Déco Car Mascot

About the Item

A whimsical Art Déco nickel-silvered metal car mascot modeled as "Boubou" the monkey holding a lantern. Signed 'Le Verrier' in the metal. Mounted on a custom hand-crafted ebonised wooden base of polygonal form. The mascot has been newly rewired to illuminate the lantern. Comes with twisted silk electrical lead with Bakelite 'torpedo' interrupter and AC adapter. Nickel finish is original. Max Le Verrier created four variants of "Boubou" car mascots between 1920-1930. These are referenced in Michel Le Grand's book 'Mascottes Passion', page 154. ** Please note; the rewiring has been carried out to comply with Australian electrical safety standards. It is strongly recommended that the purchaser should have the wiring checked by a licensed electrician to ensure safety compliance in your State or Country.
