Late 17th Century Reliquary Bust of a Bishop in Gilded Wood

This exceptionally majestic and unique reliquary bust carved in gilded wood represents a bishop adorned in golden robes. The torso is draped in a toga revealing a round cavity that once held the relic of this holy bishop. He is depicted wearing a mitre decorated with subtle foliage motifs. The base boasts a 60 cm high wooden frieze, emphasizing his hieratic status. This splendid statue stands 44 cm in width, 171 cm in height, and 29 cm in depth.
