Henri Levasseur "Loie Fuller" Gilt Bronze Sculpture

About the Item

This gilt bronze French Art Nouveau figural sculpture of Loïe Fuller by Henri Levasseur features the dancer performing her famous dance of veils. Fuller stands nude, one foot in front of the other, her body draped in a continuous fabric clinging to her breasts like wet drapery. Her arms hold the drapery away from her trunk, creating a half-shell-like effect behind her head on which her hair clings. The reverse of the sculpture features the flowing fabrics in motion, both clinging to her backside and moving freely through the air.
