Large Victorian Cast Iron Lion and Unicorn Figures c. 1870

About the Item

These large and beautiful original cast iron figures of the Lion and Unicorn - from the United Kingdom’s coat of arms - date from c. 1870 and would make a wonderful feature in house or garden. They are superb quality figures with well defined features and wonderfully expressive faces. The powerful wise lion and elegant proud unicorn side by side in partnership. These are flat backed and designed to be hung or to sit against a wall or to be placed within a garden border – the lion sits very firmly without support the unicorn would sit upright with minimal support. They are very heavy. This is a true pair and they are in excellent original condition with original finish and natural aged verdigris. No chips, cracks or damage. Dimensions are: Lion – 27 inches wide, 14 inches high. Unicorn – 27 inches wide, 17.5 inches high. For metric please multiply by 2.5
