This highly rare bronze of a nude male athlete preparing to left a heavy kettlebell weight was sculpted by an Austrian artist, Franz Seifert, in 1922. Although Seifert is known for his nude figures straining to accomplish physical tasks -- such as carrying a large bucket or splitting a stone -- this sculpture is the only example known to exist. A decade after this sculpture was cast, Seifert carved a marble portrait of Siegfried Marcus, inventor of the gasoline-powered car, for a monument in Vienna, which includes a nude male figure in bas relief racing forward on the upper edge of an automobile wheel. Josef Lorenzl (1 September 1892 – 15 August 1950) was an Austrian sculptor and ceramicist of the Art Deco period, the same era as Ferdinand Preiss (1882–1943) and Demetre Chiparus (1886–1947).
Lorenzl was born on 1 September 1882 in Vienna, Austria and died there on 15 August 1950. Little is known about his early years, but more is known about his later life. Lorenzl started his career working at a foundry at the Vienna Arsenal where he learned the techniques of bronze casting. The Vienna Arsenal was a military storage...

Portrayal of the dancer Lucie Kieselhausen in an exotic costume consisting of a jacket and knee-length skirt with star decoration in brown, blue and yellow, sleeves and skirt part with tiered flounces with a wavy hem, the waisted jacket on the side and on the back with three peaks similar to a bellflower, jagged headgear with long colored feathers curved upwards, floral decorative element on the side of the posing figure at her feet.
The figure is based on a black, round base with the artist's signature 'Kostial' on the top next to the figure.
The dancer and actress Lucy Kieselhausen (1897 - 1926) was a student of Grete Wiesenthal and was a successful German dancer at the beginning of the 20th century. Lucy Kieselhausen appeared in three silent films: 'Thousand and one Woman' (18), 'The Seventh Great Power' and 'Earth Spirit'. In addition to her dancing activities, Lucy Kieselhausen also wrote the dance drama 'Salambo', which was set to music by Heinz Tiessen. In 1926, Lucy Kieselhausen died in a tragic accident caused by a petrol explosion with a burning jet of flame in her bathroom. Source: Cyranos ch

A harlequin lost in thought is depicted in a costume elaborately decorated with a fine floral pattern in shades of blue and yellow. His cap, the ruff and the strap shoes are kept in dark brown. Under his left arm he holds a gray umbrella to which an electrified metal lantern is attached.
The figure is positioned on a snow-covered earth base.
