About the Item
Large Art Deco - Art Nouveau group in glazed porcelain biscuit by Royal Dux, Bohemia, 1919-1920. The young lady and the fan. Measures: Height 15.75"(40cm), width 8.9"(22.5cm), depth 7.9"(20cm). Signed "Royal Dux F Czechoslovakia" below the base. Condition: excellent!
Founded in 1853 near Prague in DUX, initially to produce utilitarian objects, the factory was bought by Eduard Eichler, a renowned artist, which marked the beginning of its prosperity. But it was from 1898, following his move to Berlin, that works of remarkable quality were produced. This important factory produced vases, figurines, often female subjects, in exuberant decorations of flowers, leaves on seashell bases, fountains. The porcelain was left in the form of a biscuit, gilded or painted, often in green. During this Art Nouveau period, the company was successful thanks to a modeler-decorator Alois Hampel.

Royal Dux
Royal Dux is a porcelain company based in the Czech Republic that manufactures figurines, vases and other ceramics and objects in neoclassical and Art Nouveau styles. Some of the company’s most popular pieces include the Bohemia centerpiece as well as their Elephant figurine.
A member of the Czech Porcelain Group, Roya Dux has produced its brand of figural and decorative porcelain works since 1853. Model expert Eduard Eichler established the company in Duchov, Bohemia, in 1860 and ran Royal Dux Bohemia until his death in 1887, recreating historical designs from England, Denmark and France. At the start of the 20th century, the company enjoyed remarkable success thanks to the works of the designer Alois Hampel.
Royal Dux porcelain pieces are designated by their trademark pink triangle, which serves as a certificate of authentication. The company enjoyed a renaissance in 1958 owing to the display of Jaroslav Ježek’s collection at the world exhibition in Brussels that year.
In 1992, the Duchov factory rebranded itself as Royal Dux.
