About the Item

A delightful mid-century Italian Murano glass and silver musical clown figure by Vittorio Angini and dating from around 1960. The standing figure plays a cello held in his left hand and resting against his leg and with a loose bow in his right hand. The cello, bowl, upper body and feet are all cast in silver metal while his trousers are made from blown colored Murano glass. The clown wears a jacket with a waistcoat and a bow around his neck. The bow has been applied with pink enamels with further red enamels applied to his nose and mouth. He wears a tiny hat on his head. The figure is not apparently marked. Provenance: acquired in the UK Art Market. The figure is in good original condition with wear associated with age and use. There is some natural tarnishing to the silver.
