About the Item

Picture this: a tall, elegant sculpture that pays homage to the legendary Harry Bertoia but with its own twist. While Bertoia's original sonambient sculptures are famous for their delicate sounds and ethereal hums, this particular piece takes a quiet approach—it’s purely for the eyes, not the ears. Crafted from patinated steel with a rich, warm bronze glow, this sculpture exudes timeless beauty without needing to make a sound. Standing tall with nine slender rods that catch the light just right, it’s like the sculpture is frozen mid-performance, as if it’s paused in the middle of a symphony. The base, kissed by oxidation around a couple of the rods, shows off a bit of natural aging, giving the piece an extra layer of character and charm—because who doesn’t love a little vintage flair? It's art that feels alive, even though it’s holding its peaceful silence. Now, for some context: Harry Bertoia, the mid-century maestro of metal and sound, made waves in the 1960s with his iconic sonambient sculptures. These pieces weren’t just sculptures; they were musical instruments, resonating with otherworldly tones when touched. But while this sculpture is a loving nod to Bertoia’s work, it's all about the visual experience—no sound required. Instead, it invites you to appreciate the beauty of form, space, and texture in its quiet stillness. Perfect for anyone who loves art with a side of history (and a touch of whimsy), this sculpture is an affordable way to bring a bit of mid-century magic into your space. It’s a showstopper that doesn’t need to shout to make a statement.

Monumental 10 Light Fresnel Sunflower Chandelier by Dirk van der Kooij
By Dirk Vander Kooij
Located in Culver City, CA
In the opulent world of the uber-rich, where mansions are counted in the tens of millions, and pop superstars reign supreme, one can expect nothing less than extravagance in every detail. Amidst the glittering gems of a $70 million mansion owned by a legendary pop sensation, we had the honor of acquiring a custom chandelier that defies convention and embodies the spirit of luxury and creativity. Allow me to introduce you to a dazzling masterpiece—a one-of-a-kind creation by none other than the visionary Dirk Van Der Kooij. Picture yourself stepping into a lavish, sun-drenched living room, adorned with the finest furniture money can buy. In this resplendent space, the centerpiece of the room is the extraordinary custom chandelier—a breathtaking work of art that beckons the gaze of those who dare enter. This chandelier is unlike anything you've ever seen. It's as if an intricate web of tinker toy sticks and wheels has come to life, monumentally suspended from the ceiling in a mesmerizing display. Crisscrossing black rods weave an intricate pattern, resembling the playful sticks of childhood imagination, yet with an adult sophistication that captures the essence of modern luxury. The magic of this chandelier lies in its radiant, wheel-shaped 3D-printed recycled plastic rings. These translucent rings, adorned with a riot of bright lights, cast a celestial glow, reminiscent of twinkling stars on a clear night. Imagine standing beneath this celestial marvel, feeling as if you're gazing at the very cosmos itself. But what truly sets this chandelier apart are the circular black balls nestled at its core, reminiscent of the center of a Tootsie Roll Pop. These unique orbs, resembling beautifully lit lollipops, add a whimsical touch to the chandelier's design, infusing an air of playfulness and joy into the opulent setting. Dirk Van Der Kooij, the mastermind behind this creation, is no stranger to pushing the boundaries of design. His philosophy revolves around longevity, functionality, and joy, and this chandelier is a testament to those principles. Van Der Kooij's journey began in 2009 when he set up his studio in the basement of the Design Academy, Eindhoven. His quest to find the honest, durable potential in plastic led to groundbreaking innovations, including the iconic Elephant Skin series, where recycled plastic came alive with rich, living tactility. The Kooij collection, with its penchant for unconventional materials and a marriage of craft and technology, has found its way into prestigious museums worldwide. Pieces from his collection now grace the permanent collections of institutions like MoMA in New York and the Vitra Design Museum, a testament to his enduring impact on the world of design. Now, picture the scene where this magnificent chandelier hangs in the mansion—a scene of luxurious excess and unapologetic glamour. Surrounding it are design classics, including the Cassina Mex Cube...

Sculpta-Grille Bones Screen on Walnut Base by Richard Harvey, 1960s
By Richard Harvey
Located in Culver City, CA
If a space-age honeycomb and a brutalist dream had a baby, it’d be this sculptural stunner. **We ship worldwide—often for the same cost as stateside. Our rates are insane. Message for a quote** This sculptural screen is part of the legendary “Sculpta-Grille” series by architect Richard Harvey, who brought space-age swagger to Mid Century architecture with his futuristic resin forms. Originally conceived for use in commercial spaces like banks, casinos, and mod lounges, these panels were designed to divide space and steal the show. Today, surviving examples are rare—and coveted by collectors, designers, and editors alike. This particular beauty is the cleanest one we've come across: the resin is bright and crisp, and the walnut base is rich, warm, and glowing with just the right amount of vintage character. It’s photographed here in our gallery alongside a Marta Blomstedt style scalloped back chair. We currently have this paired with a Paul Evans credednza, Milo Baughman sofa, and Hans Wegner Papa bear chair and not only does this piece hold its own-- it steals the show and makes a bold mid century modern statement! Use it as a room divider, sculpture, or gallery wall anchor. It’s not just décor—it’s a conversation-stopping design artifact. And bonus: we also have a second screen available, with more patina and a softer, creamier buttery ivory tone. Display one solo for impact, or double up for a modular moment worthy of a museum. Richard Harvey’s Sculpta...

Brutalist Cast Metal Geometric Dining Table in the Manner of Paul Evans
By Paul Evans
Located in Culver City, CA
This table is absolutely gorgeous. It's a cast metal body with what a cold cast bronze outer shell. This one of a kind, custom piece came out of an estate in the Pacific Palisades filled with the most incredible furniture by Paul Evans, Daniel Gluck and Italian designer pieces. Unfortunately we have been unable to identify the creator of this piece, but it is very much in the style of Paul Evans and his cold cast bronze line for Directional. The table base measures 56" L x 24" D x 28.25" T. The glass on the table base is also custom, 3/4" thick with docked corners for a very unique look when up close and personal. This table is remarkably sturdy, and very heavy. This unique table would also look incredible as a writing desk. This incredible table is currently in the gallery paired with like designer pieces by Paul Evans, and Silas Seandel, but would also look wonderful paired with more contemporary pieces like Milo Baughman thin line chairs...
