A 19th century 6-inch olive-brown majolica glazed dust-pressed tile depicting a profile portrait of a neoclassical figure with laurel wreath headdress before a foliage backdrop. Such is this tiles beauty, that the back is equally as interesting as the front, showcasing how the portrait profile is pressed into the clay to bring life and shape to the relief figure at the front. Perhaps once used to decorate a fireplace, this tile is a brilliant collector’s piece!
