John Adams & Co Fern Leaf & Floral Turquoise English Majolica Jardinière c.1871
An oversized John Adams & Co., later known as Adams & Bromley, English majolica jardinière with a leaf, fern and floral theme, manufactured in 1871. This piece would have been at home in a Victorian English Garden Conservatory. Brightly colored with a turquoise textured ground and interior, highly detailed, molded with overlapping green ferns and broader leaves and dotted with white five-petaled blooms. A running top border of Acanthus leaves, a woven rope bottom border in yellow ochre. 12.5″ H, a 12″ top opening tapering to a base of 10″. A faint, short stable hairline to the interior top rim, otherwise excellent.
