About the Item

Rare planter with base in brown enameled cast iron, decorated with palms in relief. This palm decoration and the shape of the handles, as well as the saddle, give way to the Japonisme fashion, which became very popular from 1860 onwards. Japonisme was a passion for everything that came from Japan, imitating its style and manner. It was a singular craze that lasted for almost half a century, spreading from England and France to all Western countries, and whose manifestations were highly contrasted. He played a major role in the revolution in the way people looked at art that took place in Europe between the 1860s and the early 20th century.
