French, 19th Century, Belle Époque Period Bronze and Ormolu Urn

About the Item

A stunning large scale French 19th century Louis XVI st. Belle Époque period patinated bronze, silvered bronze and ormolu urn. The urn is raised by a square base below a fine circular mottled wrap around band and a reeded ormolu band at the socle shaped pedestal support. Fine acanthus leaves encase the patinated bronze body at the base with a striking silvered medallion at the center of charming cherubs playing amidst a flowing draped fabric and a bow. Richly chased blooming flowers and ripe fruit garlands lead outwards to exquisite handles with beautiful winged maidens and scrolled movements centering the elegantly curved neck with a top wrap around foliate band.
