About the Item

A pair of fine Charles X gilt bronze cassolettes with lids that reverse into candlestick holders. Each domed lid is decorated with an engine-turned lozenge pattern and surmounted with a foliate finial. Tulip shaped bodies are adorned with likenesses of puttis and supported on circular pedestals with a matching lozenge pattern. Artistic flourishes combined with subtle nods to empire style lines make this piece an excellent example of the Charles X period.
