A fantastic large vintage ceramic vase from the very well-known designer Olle Alberius, known as "Sarek" from Rörstrand, Sweden. Alberius ceramic always has a special feeling, the shapes are simple, but the glazing is just stunning, the pattern is slightly abstract, yet knowing that Alberius has used the Swedish nature as an inspiration for his ceramics make sense. Sarek is one of Sweden's most famous national parks, hence the name of the series. All his objects are individual since they are hand painted. The price includes free shipping.
It has a warm dark brown color with earth tones as well as white details and is signed and numbered. It is 22cm high and 9cm in diameter (8.66") and (3.54") and it is in a very good condition.
Between the years 1957 - 1965, Olle Alberius worked in Strömstad as a designer at SYCO keramik, where he created a large number of dishes, figurines, vases and bowls. The functional value of vases is well known. They were traditionally utilized as vessels for carrying dry goods or liquids, so some have handles and feature an opening at the top (where they flare back out). While artists have explored wildly sculptural alternatives over time, the most conventional vase shape is characterized by a bulbous base and a body with shoulders where the form curves inward.
