American Studio Craft Ceramic Vase with Mountain Sky

About the Item

American studio ceramic vase, late 20th century (probably 1980s based on other pieces acquired in the group), signed indistinctly to base. Beautiful form, of rough unglazed black-ish finish, decorated with a border of textured clouds above an incised abstract mountain range painted and glazed in earth and water tones. Very striking piece with a great sculptural feel and sense of texture. The exterior is mostly unglazed, but the interior is glazed so the vase can be used to hold water. This vase would be a charming addition to a mantle piece in an informal living room, or on a breakfast room dining table.
