About the Item

Aldo Londi for Bitossi – Pair of Large “Rimini Blu” Cylinder Vases, Italy, 1960s An absolutely stunning pair of large handmade ceramic cylinder vases by Aldo Londi for Bitossi, featuring the iconic Rimini Blu glaze in a richly textured palette of deep blue and green. These exceptional pieces showcase the desirable "Prezzemolo" (Parsley) décor—an intricate surface pattern that adds both visual rhythm and tactile depth. Crafted by hand in Montelupo Fiorentino, Italy, circa the late 1950s to 1960s, each vase is a masterwork of mid-century Italian design. The taller vase stands approximately 10.2 inches high by 4.5 inches in diameter and weighs 3.5 lbs (26 cm x 11.5 cm / 1.6 kg), while the shorter measures 8.3 inches high by 4 inches in diameter and weighs 2.2 lbs (21 cm x 10.3 cm / 1 kg). Both are in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs—exceptional for their age. These are statement objects—bold, beautiful, and full of character. Whether displayed on a dining table, coffee table, or atop a cabinet, they bring a refined yet vibrant presence to any interior. About Aldo Londi & Bitossi: Aldo Londi (1911–2003) served as Bitossi’s artistic director for over three decades and was instrumental in shaping the company’s postwar identity. His Rimini Blu series, first introduced in 1955, is among the most recognizable and collected ceramic lines of the 20th century. Each piece was individually crafted and glazed by hand, giving them a distinct artisanal quality. The vibrant blue glaze—layered, textured, and shimmering—became a hallmark of Londi’s aesthetic and helped cement Bitossi’s legacy as a pioneer in modern Italian ceramics. These vases are not only collectible artworks but also emblematic of a golden era in Italian design. We specialized in antique and 20th century ceramics, glass and objects, like lamps, side tables, stools, mirrors, etc. Please check out our storefront ¨Gorgeous Vases¨ for more items in this style.
