Blackbird Vase by Cosmin Florea

About the Item

Blackbird vase by Cosmin Florea Unique piece Dimensions: W 30 x D 13 x H 45 cm Materials: Stoneware Inspired by my love for pristine nature, this sculptural vase channels the shape of a blackbird. Handcrafted in white stoneware, the Blackbird vase can be used as a decorative piece on its own or can graciously hold ever-changing floral arrangements. Glazed only inside to make it watertight, the exterior remains natural, complimenting the light texture. Please note that this item is handmade and therefore unique; variations are to be expected. Cosmin Florea is a Romanian acclaimed set designer, interior designer and ceramist. Since 2019 he is working between Brussels and Bucharest. He collaborates with some of the most prominent theaters in Romania and renowned stage directors in Europe. In 2019, he was nominated for best scenography at the Uniter Awards with “Forest of the hanged”, directed by Radu Afrim. Cosmin has also a background in fashion, working for several years as a stylist at Harper’s BAZAAR Romania. He has been involved in various commercial projects with brands like Chanel and H&M. A few years ago he rediscovered the beauty of the Romanian villages and their rich heritage in arts and crafts. Researching such traditions he met several amazing artisans using techniques for hand-woven carpets recognized in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Combining his artistic sensibility and aesthetics and their skills an ethical collaboration started with a first collection of handcrafted rugs. A second encounter turned into another love at first sight – handmade ceramics from Transylvania. It also proved to be the perfect trigger for Cosmin Florea to start his own line of ceramics.
