About the Item

Closed Sculptural Vessel by Karin Amdal One Of A Kind. Dimensions: D 12.5 x W 13.5 x H 14 cm. Materials: Ceramic/stoneware clay. Pieces are hand-made, one of a kind, and sizes may vary slightly. Can be made to order in grey/brown/black/white stoneware clay. Please contact us. Karin Amdal My work is underpinned by ideas and/or themes that are conceived by current moments in time. I create analogies and metaphors for what is happening around me, in my own life, and in the world. I work with simple, geometric forms and build my pieces by hand, using traditional techniques. I work with different clays, leaving the exterior surface unglazed, and sanded smooth to let the clay color my work naturally. I play with the notion of functionality and glaze the interior with transparent glaze so that the vessels can hold water. They become functional sculptures. In my work, I carry with me a background as an art director, and designer and a fondness for graphic wit and logical thinking which are strong principles in my work.
