Decorated Ceramic Vase by the Artist J.J.Almarza

About the Item

Ceramic vase with handles, made by the artist Juan José Almarza. About the Artist: Juan José Almarza, an internationally renowned genius with a century-old tradition of six generations of pottery making in his native Úbeda, Jaén. With Arab, Mudejar and Renaissance influences and with firing techniques in Arab wood-fired kilns, he has recovered ancestral and traditional methods in a repertoire of pieces of popular character, such as vases, plates, pitchers... With an influence from the countries of Northern Europe, giving them a unique character of works of art that reminds us so much of the Picasso in the workshops of Vallauris. Juan José Almarza, the last link in this lineage, is an artist of international prestige with exhibitions in Europe and the United States. He spent many years of academic training in England, Scotland, Denmark and Belgium and today continues to work in his family workshop in the south of Spain.
