Doulton Burslem Hyperion Sheep at Dusk Painted Porcelain Vase by Fred Walklate

About the Item
A stunning and rare Doulton Burslem Hyperion-Ware porcelain hand-painted vase with Sheep at Dusk by Fred Walklate and dating from around 1902. This tall elegant and finely made vase is of tall slender form with a short narrow neck and trumpet shaped opening. Looped handles have been applied to either side with face mask terminals. The body of the vase is finely hand painted with sheep set within a continuous hilly landscape with the setting sun just above the horizon. The painting is in tones of brown and grey with blue tones to the lower and upper vase highlighted with gilding. With wonderful use of shadows the scene is signed F Walklate within the design. The vase has green printed makers marks to the base.
