About the Item

A large white marble vase, hand-carved in India, circa 1960. 28 inches tall, approximately 13 inches diameter. Fluted neck. Clean, simple, elegant lines. The vase is composed of three separate parts: The round base, which can be used for wide floral arrangements; the fluted neck with a stylized carving which freely rests inside the base, and a 3.5- inch high lid. The round base has one visible loss at its border, and a superficial crack running through the veining along the wall. These are probably due to age and use, and do not affect the stability or integrity of the vase. Originally this vase was $1,600. The defects are the reason why we're putting it on sale at 45% off its original price.

Thai Ceramic Vase, Mid 19th Century
Located in New York, NY
A ceramic vase from Thailand, with light cream glaze and painted floral decorations. Late 19th Century. While the golden age of Thai ceramics ended around the 15-16th Centuries, Thai craftsmen learned the art through generations, later producing smaller numbers of pieces with different clays and glazing techniques, inspired by the original master artisans of places like Si-Satchanalai and Sawankhalok. This small vase is beautifully preserved, measuring approximately 5 inches in diameter and 9.5 inches high. Its light beige glaze and still visible painted decorations is reminiscent of the impeccable craft of the ancient Southeast Asian ceramics.
