Lovely Japanese Edo Period (1603-1867) Imari Porcelain Vase in a European form. Created with a vertical scalloped surface, hand painted and hand thrown . Decorated with a medallion in front and one in the back with depiction of many symbols that include- cherry blossoms (renewal), peoni flowers (strenght), foo dogs (talisman for protection) and fans (symbolic of life from Sun’s rays).With the typical shades of red, pre-Meiji period blue-black and gold gilt accents. Signed with chop mark on the bottom. Condition: Very Good. Upper lip’s gold band some gilt rubbed. Minor wear consistent with age and use, no issues. Measurements: 6 inches diameter (at widest) x 10 3/4 inches high

    This porcelain double gourd vase is a wonderful decorative object realized by a Japanese artist during the Edo period in the early 19th century.
