Beautiful pair of Meiji Period blue and white Japanese Imari Chargers depicting two Japanese Courtesans reading poetry by a lake in a serene setting framed by banana palms or trees on one side of background. Matching in design, both platters have similar measurements of 15 inches diameter and 1 3/8 inches high. The rim on the backside is decorated with a stylized depiction of flying dragons among clouds. Appropriate firing marks centered on back.
Outstanding beauty and quality of late Edo or early Meiji Period
Measurements: 15 inches diameter x 1 3/8 inches high.
