About the Item

Large vase “Mezzafiligrana” by Carlo Scarpa, Venini (Murano), Italy. Very large vase in the shape of a truncated cone, the technique of which called “mezzafiligrana” presents thin canes of green glass submerged in a clear glass base. During the manufacturing process, the glass rods are gathered in a furnace heated to 700°C, the piece is then blown from the center of its base to obtain the desired shape. This technique, which appeared in the 16th century, was revisited by Carlo Scarpa from 1934. A rare, highly decorative and very nicely sized piece.
