About the Item
Ceramic vase form 1507-27 with decor designed by Helmut Scholtis for the Carstens Tönnieshof label is a classic example of German ceramic design of the 1960s.
Harmonious proportions: elegant and functional, ideal as a decorative accent.
Helmut Scholtis' Ankara décor was introduced in 1963 and was a very successful décor that was used in many forms. It was produced until 1969. The décor is an example of the wax reduction technique that Carstens used in the 1960s.
The Carstens 1507-27 vase, designed by Helmut Scholtis, is an elegant example of 1960s German studio ceramics, combining modern form with expressive glaze .
It is today considered an iconic object of the mid-century modern era, combining utility with high aesthetic and collector value.
