About the Item

This magnificent pair of Sèvres porcelain vases, dating from the begining of 19th century (circa 1830), reflects the exceptional quality and artistry for which the Sèvres manufactory is renowned. Each amphora-shaped vase is crafted in fine porcelain, showcasing a brilliant bleu céleste ground — the iconic sky blue shade long associated with Sèvres — and enriched with hand-gilded fleur-de-lis and raised gold detailing. The front panels display exquisite hand-painted floral arrangements, with roses, tulips, and garden blossoms captured in remarkable naturalism and vibrant color. On the reverse, finely painted scenes of playful putti or cherubs evoke allegories of love and joy, rendered with delicate brushwork and framed by elaborate gilt borders. These charming vignettes recall the Rococo revival style of the 19th century, paying homage to the grand decorative traditions of 18th-century Sèvres porcelain. The vases are further enhanced by twin gilded handles, pearl-like beaded borders, and circular pedestal bases, adding elegance and balance to their neoclassical form. One panel bears an inscription referencing “Rue de Bondy, Paris,”and signed "Guyer" linking the decoration to a specialized atelier associated with Sèvres productions of the period. Condition: Overall very good for their age, with vibrant colors and gilding well preserved. Please note that one vase has an old restoration to the rim where a section was broken and re-glued, visible upon close inspection. This discreet repair does not detract from the beauty or stability of the pair.
