About the Item
Pair of Edwardian Art Nouveau Doulton & Slaters Stoneware Ewers (c. 1900-1910)
This refined and decorative pair of stoneware ewers was produced by Doulton & Slaters during the Edwardian period, circa 1900-1910. These ewers are exceptional examples of the Art Nouveau style, showcasing the period’s hallmark organic forms, flowing lines, and intricate decoration.
The bodies of the ewers are adorned with raised floral patterns in golden lacework, which are beautifully highlighted by a soft green glaze. The colours are both rich and muted, creating an elegant contrast between the floral motifs and the graceful, natural curves of the vessels. The handles, designed in the same fluid style, echo the sinuous, nature-inspired forms that were characteristic of the Art Nouveau movement.
Each ewer is marked on the underside with the Doulton stamp and pattern numbers, confirming its provenance and authenticity. The ewers are of excellent craftsmanship, showcasing the high standards Doulton & Slaters became known for during this period.
These ewers not only serve as functional decorative pieces but also as fine examples of early 20th-century British pottery, which is highly sought after by collectors of both Art Nouveau design and Doulton wares.
