About the Item

This wonderful bud vase was crafted in France by ceramicist Paul Milet (1870-1950) during the first quarter of the 20th Century. The small green mottled glaze vase is typical of the work produced by Milet who worked at Serves following in his father Felix's footsteps. Milet was known for his bold colours which were applied to a range of ceramics from vases and lamp bases to table boxes. To the foot of the vase is an applied gilt silver mount which has marks for manufacture by Parisian firm A.Risler & Carre who operated between 1897 and 1912, assisting us to date the piece to between their 15 years of their operation. Because of Milet's prolific designing in the early 20th Century, its likely the vase dates to the tail end of the Risler & Carre operations. In good antique condition the gilding to the silver mount has some wear and there are some slight areas of loss to the top rim of the porcelain which are commensurate with age and don't detract from the beauty of the item.
