About the Item

Vase, Johann Loetz Witwe, experimental decoration, ca. 1907 This object is an absolute peculiarity in the production range of the Johann Loetz Witwe glassworks. At first glance, the vase could be mistaken for a product from Murano, such is the delicacy of its pink body with its shimmering green dots. The quality of the glass and the special texture of the dots only become apparent on closer inspection. There is a glass tile in the Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna that also has green dots with shimmering particles incorporated into it. glass, mould-blown and freeform, reduced and iridescent Bib.: sample tile, Museum of Applied Arts, Vienna, inv. no. GL 3329-33 Jitka Lnenickova, “Loetz/Series II. Paper Patterns for Glass from 1900 to 1914”, Museum Sumavy, Susice 2011, no. 4993, p. 492.
