About
An iconic "Spirale" astray designed by Achille Castiglioni for Bacci Italia in 1971. "Spirale" is Castiglioni's intelligent solution for the recurrent problem that allows cigarettes to be snuffed out or fall in most ashtray designs. Instead a spiral spring in steel rests in the bowl and restrains the cigarette, preventing it from falling, and is easily removable for cleaning the container. This rare version is executed in the original silver plated brass by the Bologna-based silversmiths. The design was later reissued by Alessi in a more mass-market stainless steel version, 1984.
