Iconic French cafe barware accessory. Set of four original Ricard water pitcher, pot, jug in glazed earthenware with embossed marking on both side. Assorted colors of teal, yellow, off-white and brown. These pitchers are beautiful 1950s and 1960s version which, despite their age, appears to have been safely preserved. The teal pitcher is marked underside: "Revol Saint Uze - Terre d'Acier (steel earth)", with company logo and engraved model number. The yellow pitcher is marked underside: "Revol Saint Uze - Terre d'Acier (steel earth)," with company logo and engraved model number and is also marked "Coulange - St Jerome - Marseille." The off-white pitcher is marked underside (partially erased): "Revol Saint Uze - Terre d'Acier (steel earth)", with company logo and engraved model number and is also marked "Coulange - St Jerome - Marseille". The brown pitcher is marked underside: "Atelier de Ceramique Ricard - Made in France," with engraved model number. Great addition for any barware lover, recommended for decoration only. Measurements each: 8.69 in. wide (22 cm) x 5.50 in. deep (14 cm) x 6.13 in. high (15.50 cm) References: Ceramics Saint-Uze is the current name of a type of ceramic that was produced in several villages in the Drome Departement (France) from the early 19th century and during the 20th century particularly in the village of Saint-Uze. This is a type of Fine stoneware with opaque enamel, called "fire porcelain." A stoneware is composed of kaolin and feldspar used as the basis for the formation of a glassy phase. In the mid-20th century, they also produced earthenware and ironstone. This ceramic is well-known for the wide variety of its models. The Revol Factory In 1789, two brothers, Joseph-Marie and Francis Revol discovered in the town of Saint-Barthelemy-de-Vals (South of France) a Kaolino-feldspathic sand quarry that allows them to create two factories. The Revol brothers worked in partnership with the chemist Raymond to make kitchen utensils and chemistry, including crucibles. The factory is transferred to Saint-Uze in 1800. The production is diversified with white cooking utensils. The Paris exhibition of 1806 rewards these Premium Products for the quality of their enamel and strength. The Revol products are also presented successfully to the Industrial Exhibition of Paris of 1834. The productions are diversifying: electrical insulators, tiles, ink fountains, sinks, funeral articles, promotional items including pots or water jugs for Company Ricard. The industry deploys an intense activity between 1880 and 1930. The Revol family was the precursor of these ceramics and is still currently the last representative. The success of the ceramic industry in the region of Saint-Uze makes the Revol family a great Industrial family. Today the company is still in business and has a high reputation in producing quality household ceramics. Coulange is the name of Francois Coulange who was salesman and lived in Saint Jerome district in Marseille (France). Francois Coulange has taken over the business of his father in representing wine companies in the mid-20th century. It's in the Scope of his business that he met Paul Ricard who was at that time wine merchant, the exact word should be "re-met' since Francois Coulange and Paul Ricard were at the same school in Marseille. The Ricard pitcher created by Paul Ricard and manufactured by Revol company has Francois Coulange as the commercial representative.
