George II Wine Drinking Glass Balustroid Knopped Stem with Tear, Circa 1745
About the Item
This is a good handblown Wine Drinking Glass; a Balustroid form with a solid stem having a central knop with a tear, dating from the middle of the 18th century, George 11nd period, circa 1745.
English 18th Century Drinking glasses are very collectable, each one being unique.
The glass is made from English lead glass which is relatively heavy and has a soft grey color.
The glass has a small round funnel (RF) bowl which sits on a solid stem having a central knop containing a single tear (large air bubble in the shape of a tear). The stem leads to a good wide conical folded foot having a rough snapped off pontil mark to the underside.
There are no chips, cracks or any evidence of restoration.

Foot diameter 2.69 inches
Height 5.6 inches.
The glass has a good ring to it when tapped with a finger.

This is a very good hand-blown, English, mid-Georgian, Wine drinking glass with a round funnel (RF) engraved bowl on a solid stem, dating to the middle of the 18th century, circa 1760.
These glasses are very collectable. It is made from English lead glass which is relatively heavy and has a soft grey colour.
The RF (round funnel) bowl is well engraved with OXO under rim and a facet cut bowl base, sitting on a a solid stem, over a conical foot with a snapped off pontil below to the underside.
The foot has an under rim edge chip but is otherwise very good with on evidence of restoration.

This is a superb hand-blown example of an Irish made, mid-Georgian, cordial wine drinking glass with a thick double series opaque twist (DSOT) stem, dating from the middle of the 18th century, circa 1765 to 1770.
These glasses are very collectable. It is made from English lead glass which is relatively heavy and has a soft grey colour, with slight age related wear as expected with over 200 years of use.
The glass has the usual striations, inclusions and tiny bubbles you would expect to see in 18th Century glass, which gives these glasses their unique charm.
