Chinese Export Porcelain & French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Ormolu Centerpiece

About the Item

An extremely elegant Chinese export porcelain and French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu mounted lidded centerpiece. The centerpiece is raised by a striking octagonal base with a scalloped border and finely etched decorative etched lattice design. The circular ormolu socle pedestal displays a richly chased wrap around berried laurel band and a fluted design in a striking satin and burnish finish. The circular urn displays a warm cobalt blue background and finely hand painted flowers at each side. Encasing the urn are fine ormolu handles with swaging berried laurel and unique acanthus leaves. The ormolu rim displays pierced oval designs and reeded pattern. The removable lid is decorated with an elegant topie shaped finial and similar fine hand painted designs at each side. The lid removes to reveal the finished inside.
