About the Item
A spectacular and extremely high quality French 19th century 1st Empire period ormolu candelabra centerpiece. The centerpiece is raised by a fine triangular base with cut corners, concave sides and an elegant stepped design with a lovely wrap around foliate band. The three curved central supports each display handsome paw feet, striking palmette designs and impressive richly chased open winged griffins in a beautiful satin and burnished finish. Each of the supports are connected by a fine pierced scrolled Rinceau design stretcher. The reeded bowl above displays a fine wrap around berried laurel band and a fluted design at the rim. The six elegantly scrolled arms above each display lovely finely detailed foliate and palmette designs and are connected by a fitted circular support at the rim which is removable. All original gilt throughout.
