This is a bat printed porcelain Tea cup and saucer, by New Hall, dating to the early 19th century George 111rd period, circa 1805. Both pieces are well potted, the cup on a low foot with a ring handle. Both pieces have a bat printed design; the cup with a country scene of people by a river with houses, bridge and trees, the saucer with a lady holding a basket of flowers standing by a bush in a country setting. This is a stunning tea service made by New Hall in circa 1795. The service is made of hybrid hard paste porcelain and decorated in a bold Chinoiserie pattern of large flower sprays. The service consists of a teapot with cover, a milk jug, a slop bowl, and six tea bowls with saucers. This service has provenance; it came from the collection of David Redstone, the well known porcelain expert who wrote leading books on Bow and Chelsea porcelain. A fine antique English porcelain cup & saucer. Attributed to Copeland Spode. In the Pseudo-Tobacco Leaf pattern, mimicking the Chinese Export pattern of the late 18th Century. Both cup and saucer have a gilt scalloped rim, are decorated in underglaze blues, and cold painted in reds, purples, and greens. Each is richly gilt. Simply a wonderful early English tea cup and saucer! Date: Early 19th Century Overall Condition: They are in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. Condition Details: There is fine and tight crazing visible to the saucer (mostly on the underside). Otherwise each cup and saucer have tiny spots of crazing here and there, some rubbing to the gold, and some wear to the enamel decoration.
