20th century French Earthenware Vallauris Liquor set, 1970s
About the Item
Very nice Earthenware tableware with 'Faux Bois' decoration, made by atelier Grandjean Jourdan Vallauris in the 1970s.
Set with a jug and 8 liquor mugs.
In the southern French town of Vallauris, ceramics have been made since Roman times, but Picasso's arrival in the 1950s transformed it into a famous ceramics capital.
Atelier Grandjean Jourdan was active in Vallauris from the 1950s to 1981.
The studio was known for its 'Faux Boix' decoration, in which ceramics were painted to resemble olive wood.
The jug is marked underneath "Vallauris". Perfect condition.
