HELGA INGEBORGA MELNBARDE - 'Princess' - Important contemporary European studio ceramic plate - hand painted on a Wedgwood 'blank' - featuring an ethereal princess in a landscape of soft focus trees (painted in a clear iridescent glaze) - titled in Latvian verso - signed and dated verso - Latvia/Canada (Toronto) - circa 1990.
Excellent condition - no loss - no damage - no restoration - minor surface scratches with minimal signs of age and use.
Size/Dimensions - Medium - 8" (20.5 cm.) Diameter x 3/4" (2 cm.) Deep.
BIO - Helga Ingeborga Melnbarde is well known in international studio ceramics circles - she is an artist and docent at the University of Latvia - her works have captivated collectors worldwide - examples of her work and a more extensive biography can be found online - a solo show of her past and current work is at the Riga Porcelain Museum from February 15 - April 15, 2018.
