Art Deco German Josephine, Vineta, Kristall Glass Bowl c1930

About the Item

Amazingly rare, large, Art Deco Josephine -Vineta- Kristall vase/bowl, designed by Erwin Pfohl for the Josephine glass works in vibrant stripped blue with polychrome (yellow, red and black) internal decorations, made circa 1930 This bowl is documented in the main Josephine 20th century book, it is form 4257. There is also a smaller example in the Passau glass museum in Germany. This is the only example of this series we have ever seen outside of a museum and they were probably Josephine's answer to their competitor's (WMF's) 'Ikora' glass range. There are a few internal bubbles in the glass original to the production. Josephine was THE major German glassworks in the 19th and first half of the 20th century -eventually closing around 1950
