Classic Early Loetz Glass Vase Enamelled Flowers on Spreading Peach c1890

About the Item

Classic early Loetz glass vase enamelled with yellow flowers and green grasses on peach at the top spreading to white below made c1890. A tall necked vase initially blown circular but then, while still hot, pinched to give an almost square profile for its main body. This is one of the most classic, but quite rare, Loetz enamel decorations made in the early 1890s - created before they became super famous. These were made for what later became know as the Fancy Coloured Victorian glass market and the peach shading to white would have been considered at the time an amazing new innovation. Loetz was, and still is, probably the most famous and most collected of the great Bohemian glass makers.
